Lyrics

to the edge of the world
(january 2008)

He said follow me to the edge of the world because I said so, I said so. I recall a boy who travelled all the way to Mars on a ship he built himself. Reminiscing blisters on his hands, his feet, from rowing on his knees. The little boy had made it clear that he would please his daddy that year, but daddy wanted more, more than what this little child could do to bring his father’s smile but in the end was it worth it all? Just follow me to the edge of the world because I said so, I said so. It seems the little boy was cursed for when he tried to cross the universe to reach the stars above all he got were asteroids and meteors who then destroyed all that he’d been dreaming of. In the end it seems the quest to please was simply far to great a feat once he was gone, somewhere lost in outer space a glass filled with tears from his face the little boy cries out : oh, I am so far from home, I am so far from home. Somewhere lost in our galaxy floats a tiny branch of his family tree for daddy wanted more. How the boy has paid in kind a father who now left behind regrets his only son. This here story reminds me of what children do for their father’s love and lest we all forget just how hard it is for a little child to know what brings his father’s smile, but in the end was it worth it all? Just follow me to the edge of the world because I said so, I said so, I said so...

This one is for me…
